As a business, it’s important to find the right packaging options for our products. In order make the best decisions, there are many things to consider. Cost is a big factor when it comes to the packaging of a product, but environmental sustainability needs to be a top priority – bottom line. One of the latest trends is to opt for using eco-friendly packaging materials such as the sustainable solutions and eco-friendly products offered by Moor Spa.

At Moor Spa, we are pleased to offer our customers a wider variety of sustainable packaging with our products. Not only do we provide 100% naturally derived products that are free from synthetic preservatives, parabens, sulfates, artificial colours and fragrances, and petroleum-derived chemicals such as PEG, propylene glycol or mineral oil, but we also pride ourselves on being the first in the spa industry to convert to biodegradable d2w packaging.

It’s clear that choosing to use sustainable d2w packaging provides many environmental benefits including:

Reduced Carbon Footprint

Plastic waste has become one of the most unmanageable problems facing humanity. We have moved towards a “disposable” lifestyle and it's estimated that around 50% of the plastic we use is only used once and thrown away.

From the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Dump’, to the far-reaching presence of microplastics, not only in water systems, but in human lungs and blood tissue - it's a problem that cries out for immediate action. We can't only rely on recycling because only 10% of recyclable plastic is ultimately recycled.

Plastic packaging is the single, largest contributor to the microplastic problem. It takes between 500 and 1,000 years for HDPE plastic (the type most commonly used in the spa/wellness/ beauty industry) to decompose. Estimates indicate that between 10,000 and 100,000 tonnes of plastic have been dumped into the world’s oceans as a result of mismanagement of waste disposal.

A clear benefit of sustainable packaging is reduced carbon footprint.

Eco-friendly packaging at Moor Spa is made from a substance called d2w. This additive makes the treated plastic fully biodegradable in the presence of oxygen after the natural shelf life of the product has expired. Rather than taking over 500 years to decompose, the packaging biodegrades in as little as six months both on land and in the ocean.

100% Natural & Non-Toxic Material

Our clients tell us they want to make good choices in product ingredients (and the materials they are packaged with). They are coming to understand the possible harm to health and well-being from potentially toxic substances.

Not only is Moor Spa’s d2w packaging better for the environment, but the 100% naturally derived, non-toxic products are also better for the safety and health of consumers.

Easily Reused or Recycled

Part of what makes Moor Spa’s d2w packaging eco-friendly is its ability to be reused or recycled. And, the nature of d2w allows the use of the very best plastic technologies to achieve minimal use of raw-materials.

During its service-life, d2w is used and reused, all while maintaining its durability and strength.

While recycled plastics are okay, they are not degradable. In other words, they will still lie around in the environment for decades. What's exciting is that both ordinary plastic and recycled plastic can become biodegradable using d2w, so they can be easily reused or recycled.
